SKYLINEHARVEST IN THE NEWS

Written by AM 1250/ Mix 96 News
Wednesday, 01 August 2007Forage crops in the southeast are shaping up to fill the need for feed well into next year. Vince Braun from Skyline Harvest near Blumenort says second cut alfalfa is done, and was put up in very good quality condition. Moisture was a factor and slowed them down a bit. He says first cut came off as silage and was a lower quality but the quantity was very good. Braun says they took off more feed in first cut than they did in 4 cuts last year. He expects a third cut will come off, but says because of all the rain this spring the chances of taking a fourth cut have been washed away. Meanwhile, Skyline Harvest has started cutting some cereals and oilseeds and he expects they will begin taking off corn silage in the next couple of weeks.
