What a move!

We are home! Arrived on Thursday and are happy to be home, although the weather leaves something to be desired, after having almost 3 weeks of warmer stuff with no snow. Yesterday was Ryan and Amanda's big move into their own home. Wow!!! Lots of work to clean, since the former owners had not cleaned. All my muscles are aching and really tired. Well, they will revive to work again! Thanks for the pizza.........to whoever paid for it! It really was a good day and so much joy to see a house become a home.

Homeward Bound

We are headed north. The temperatures today went from 73 F down to 55 F. We are presently in St. Joseph, Missouri, which is just north of Kansas City. In case Jonathan needs to know, I again had some wonderful ribs. The BBQ ribs down here are sooooooooo much better than Tony Roma's. Not nearly as fatty. Just meaty and good. We hate to come back to cold weather now that things have finally warmed up here, but we miss all of you. Hopefully tomorrow we can get as far as Fargo. Then it's just a short hop home. Love you all.

A new variation on an old game

Hi Family!

I ran across a new version of the Who-What-Where-etc game that we play that might be fun to try next time we get together....

1) A description, such as “The frightful..” or “The challenging yet delightful…” or “The incredibly handsome…” etc.
2) A man’s name
3) Another description as above
4) A woman’s name
5) Where they met
6) What he gave her
7) What she said
8) What he said
9) What the consequence was
10) What the world said about it.

There's a couple of examples at this website. It looks like fun! Talk to you later! :)

February 16

Hello again from South Padre Island! Had a great day today! First thing this morning we joined Jim & Marion for breakfast at the Radisson. After that we reclined in the sun beside the pool for about an hour (it was cool). We drove back to Harlingen to visit with Bret & Wanda. Then we took Donna and Wanda and her kids out for supper (Bret had a meeting). We got back here about half an hour ago and are ready to just relax before hitting the pillow.

Susan, what is this about you going back to school? Would love to hear about your plans.

Jonathan, have a great time skiing and don't break any legs!

Too many things to do...

Yikes, Ryan and I have too many things to do in the next few weeks. First of all, we have barely started to pack up...just a couple things in the basement. I have a feeling we may just end up throwing everything into the trailor...I'm so tired of packing already. What's the point of putting everything into boxes when we are only moving 5 minutes away? But then again, I hate being unorganized...even for only 5 minutes, so boxes is the way to go. You can all come help move on Friday, February 23rd. I'm thinking mid-late afternoon 'cause I will want to do some cleaning first. 3 or 4 o'clock...or maybe just when everyone shows up. I'll let you know.
Then there is all the calling & appointments with the bank and lawyers office and life insurance people.
The first 2 weeks in March is the music festival for my students...so many classes and extra lessons and "donut" classes coming up. And it's also that time of year when everyone starts talking about the next school year of piano lessons and when those will be, and all those lessons that will change when we move next week. It's hard to keep it all straight right now.
But we are finding time to relax in the midst of all this. Tonight we are going to Grandma's and bringing over some pizza. I have been calling her and reading all the emails and blogs that mom and dad have sent to keep her updated. And tomorrow evening Ryan and I are going out to Joey's for our Valentine's Day date. Mmmm...good food.
Oh yeah, and mom, just to warn you, you will probably need to do quite a bit of grocery shopping when you get back...we have all made ourselves at home at some point since you've been gone.
Later,
Amanda

The Big Chill!!

Texas can get pretty cool. The wind is so strong that we were tempted to put on our winter parkas. Jim & Marion and us were having breakfast this morning, when Roger & Eleanor walked in. We didn't realize they had arrived the night before and are staying at the hotel next door. Just did some browsing around today, since it was too cool to do much else. Tonight we went for supper with the Gingerichs. Just got back from a soak in the hot tub with Jim & Marion. They are leaving tomorrow. We have arranged to meet with Bret & Wanda and Donna tomorrow. Should be a good day.

HOT, HOT TEXAS!!!!!

The temperature today is near 50 F. Slept in this morning and went for breakfast with Jim & Marion. After that we parted ways. We did some exploring of the Island, going north as far as the road went, then turning around and going the other way, until the end. Probably a total of 16 miles. We checked out some restaurants for supper and did some shopping. Didn't buy much. The wind makes it very uncomfortable. Tonight we have decided to have supper at a place called Louie's - they have all the crab you can eat tonight. How can you tell that I have extra time on my hands? Tomorrow we will do whatever we feel like doing. Should be fun. The weather probably won't be any warmer tomorrow.

Holidays in Texas!

We have just arrived in New Braunfels, Texas, which is just north of San Antonio. This morning at Ray & Nicky's we were treated to a beautiful thunder storm. Awesome at this time of year! We stayed with them since Friday afternoon. Saturday, Roger & Eleanor stopped in for lunch on their way to Waco and in the evening we went to a music theater, which presented live music of the 60's & 70's. It was very good. Tomorrow we are planning to make it to Brownsville or San Padre Island and maybe staying for a few days. We are also planning to connect with Bret & Wanda and Donna, who are in Harlingen, Texas. The weather outside is sunny and the temperature is 67 F. Hope the weather in Canada warms soon, or we may not feel like coming home. See y'all next week sometime.

high speed...

we are on fairly fast internet now, and can use the phone at the same time!! oh technology!!

Blog changes...

Hello everyone,
You might have noticed that there has been a cut back in the contributors of this blog. Here's what you need to do to be able to post again. When you sign in to blogger, go to sign in with a new google account instead of sign in with an old blogger account. This should take you to a page that you can set up a google account if you don't already have one. It will ask you for your email address and a new password and this will then become your username and password when you sign into our blog. From here on in always go to sign in with a google account. Don't know exactly why we have to do this, but we do. So, mom and dad, this may be why you haven't been able to blog lately, if you have been trying. It doesn't take too long.
Have a great day!
Amanda

Travel update!

Just a little note to let you know that we arrived in Omaha last night. I tried and tried to get my computer connection going, but I just don't know the right stuff. Hopefully, tonight I can get it going. Driving conditions were very good yesterday...but the weather is cold. We are sitting at about -15 degrees this morning. We are heading out and expect to hit Springfield today and probably New Orleans tomorrow. Will stay in touch this way if computer doesn't work.
